Bond revoked for man facing 3 murder counts in fiery Hanceville crash

CULLMAN, Ala. –  An Altoona man is behind bars until his murder trial after failing to show up for a recent court appearance. Cullman County Circuit Court Judge Gregory Nicholas on Nov. 17, 2025, revoked Ramon Maldonado-Vasquez’s bond and ordered him held until trial after he failed to appear.

Maldonado-Vasquez, 20, was indicted in May 2023 for a fiery crash that occurred along Alabama Highway 91 near Hanceville in Cullman County shortly after 1 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2022. He was allegedly driving under the influence, at more than 100 mph, attempting to flee from a Hanceville police officer.

Three passengers in his vehicle were killed after he crashed into a tree. The victims were Cayden Britt, 15; Dailan Jennings, 16; and Evan Magana, 15.

At the time, the Hanceville PD told media an officer found the pickup truck in flames after it collided with the tree. The three victims were inside and Maldonado-Vasquez, who was then 17, was ejected.

Maldonado-Vasquez’s charges include three counts of reckless murder by vehicle, one count of attempting to elude, one count of driving under the influence, one count of minor in possession of alcohol and one count of reckless driving.
