Funeral Service for Morris Keith Rakestraw, age 85 of Cullman, will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Fairview First Baptist Church with Dr. David Chambers and Pastor Etsel Riddle officiating; burial at First Baptist Church of Fairview. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Fairview First Baptist Church.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rakestraw passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, at his residence. He was born, February 20, 1940, to Raymond and Gertrude Rakestraw.
Morris was a devoted Christian, husband, and father. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening, and telling funny stories from his life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and also his sister, Cheryl Rakestraw.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Donna Rakestraw; sons, Derek (Tracie) Rakestraw and Daren (Vanessa) Rakestraw; daughter, Marisa (Chris Durst) Mitchell; grandchildren, Whitney (Ben) Halbrooks, Landon (Naomi) Rakestraw, Nicki (Zach) Tauton, Lucas Rakestraw, Alden Rakestraw, Alex Rakestraw, Weston Rakestraw, Lila Mitchell and Bennett Mitchell; great grandchildren, Remi, Rylee, Ruthie and Jett Halbrooks and Matthew Tauton; sister, Dianne (Kinnie) Bailey; brother, Edward (Patricia) Rakestraw; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
