Honoring Papa: A Legacy of Strength and Devotion

Papa was a pillar of strength, a man whose love knew no bounds. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he faced the brutal realities of war and earned a Purple Heart after being wounded. But his greatest legacy wasn’t forged on the battlefield. It was built in the life he lived afterward. He built his world around his family, making sure everyone stayed close—often on his land, fishing pole in hand. He wasn’t always easygoing, but beneath that tough exterior was a truly vast and generous heart. His love ran deeper than any words could express, demonstrated purely through his actions and deep devotion. He was fiercely proud of his family and to have served his country.

We honor him now: the man who gave us his strength, his wisdom, and his heart completely. He lived a life of purpose, leaving a legacy that will forever endure. He lives in the hearts he leaves behind and will never die.

Mr. Freeman is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Freeman; children, Garic Freeman, Cindy Forhan (Craig), Sandy Pittman (Paul), Rodney Freeman (Lori); grandchildren, Zachery Young, Heather Sanchez (Rick), Timothy Hannon, Jake Campbell (Chelsea), Clay Campbell, Zachary Hannon, Shaun Forhan, Allison Warner, William Pittman; great grandchildren, Keegan Campbell, Xavier Warren, Greysen Warner, Linley Armstrong, Conner Armstrong, Alessia Sanchez, Aria Sanchez, Arielle Sanchez, Alanis Sanchez; siblings, Jerry Freeman (Chong), Terry Freeman (Kyong Hai), Barry Freeman (Anita), Patricia Henderson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his parents, Olin and Ola Freeman; brother-in-law, Ricky Henderson and his grandson, Chase Warner.

Hanceville Funeral Home is honored to serve the Freeman family.
