HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Wallace State Community College’s Fine and Performing Arts program recently announced its schedule for the 2025-2026 season, which includes favorite annual performances and new shows — two of which celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday.
‘PUFFS’
The season kicks off on Nov. 7, with Wallace State Theatre’s production of “PUFFS.” Described as hilarious and heartwarming, “PUFFS” tells the story of a group of magical students who aren’t exactly heroes. The parody-filled adventure follows the trip of unlikely friends as they navigate seven increasingly dangerous years at a certain wizarding school.
“PUFFS” will be staged on Nov. 7, and Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. and on Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. Shows will be held in the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre at the Garlan E. Gudger Student Center. Admission is a $10 donation for adults and $5 for students and children younger than 12.
Salute to United States Veterans
The Wallace State Jazz Band and Concert Band will take the stage on Nov. 10, to honor the nation’s military during the annual Salute to United States Veterans concert. The event will feature a variety of patriotic tunes and the hymns of each branch of service.
Salute to United States Veterans will be held at 7 p.m. at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre. Admission is free.
‘The Nutcracker’
“The Nutcracker” will kick off the holiday season Nov. 22-23. The performance by Ballet South will be held in the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre on Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. Admission is $22 for adults and $15 for children.
Christmas Spectacular
The holiday vibes continue Dec. 11, when the annual Christmas Spectacular will be staged, featuring performances by the Wallace State Jazz Band, Concert Band, Wallace State Singers, Concert Choir, Pride Line dance team, Wallace State Theatre and the Percussion Ensemble.
The Christmas Spectacular will be held at 7 p.m., at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre. Admission is free.
‘Xanadu’
Wallace State Theatre will kick off spring 2026 events with its production of “Xanadu.” Based on the cult classic film of the same name, the Tony-Award nominated play is described as a hilarious, roller skating, musical adventure.
“Xanadu” will be staged March 13-14, at 7 p.m., and March 15, at 2 p.m., in the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre. Admission is a $10 donation for adults and $5 for students and children younger than 12.
The Great American Road Trip
The Wallace State Singers will take you on a Great American Road Trip March 27-29, to celebrate the country’s 250th birthday. The production will feature a lineup of songs that pay tribute to the places, people and music that are quintessentially American.
The Great American Road Trip will be performed March 27-28, at 7 p.m., and March 29, at 2 p.m., in the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre. Admission is a $10 donation for adults and $5 for students and children younger than 12.
Solo & Chamber Ensemble Recital
A Solo & Chamber Ensemble Recital will be held on April 9, at 7 p.m., in the Burrow Center Recital Hall. The concert will feature private lesson students and the Wallace State Percussion Ensemble. Admission is free.
Big Band Dance
Wallace State’s Jazz Band will host its annual Big Band Dance on April 17, at the Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, featuring the greatest Big Band hits of the 20s, 30s and 40s. Admission is a $10 donation for adults and $5 for students and children younger than 12.
Spring Under the Stars and Stripes
The annual outdoor concert Spring Under the Stars will be updated to Spring Under the Stars and Stripes in honor of the country’s 250th birthday. The April 23 production will feature performances by the Concert Band, Jazz Band, Singers, Concert Choir, Percussion Ensemble and Pride Lide dance team. Admission is free and food trucks will be on hand for refreshments. Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. outside of the Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts.
Broadway Night
Broadway Night will be held on April 30, at 7 p.m. at the Burrow Center Recital Hall. Wallace State Performing Arts students will present the program featuring hits they’ve selected from Broadway shows. Admission is a $10 donation.
I Am a Pilgrim
The finale of the season will be I Am a Pilgrim, presented by the Wallace State vocal programs. The concert will trace the roots of American gospel music from the plantations, through the Appalachian Mountains to the churches, radio and television.
I Am a Pilgrim will be held July 23-25, at 7 p.m., at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre. Admission is a $10 donation for adults and $5 for students and children younger than 12.
