DORA, Ala. – Good Hope made the trip to Dora for a region matchup with the Bulldogs Friday night and after a slow start in the first half, the Raiders racked up 28 points in the second half to pull away with a 35-15 win.

After a scoreless first quarter, Dora missed a field goal early in the second quarter and the Raiders took advantage of the favorable field position. A big run by Parker Johnson moved Good Hope’s offense out past midfield, setting up a 25-yard touchdown run by Mason Drake that gave the Raiders a 7-0 lead. Neither team was able to get any more points on the board in the first half and Good Hope went into the locker room with a 7-0 lead at the break.

Dora put together a scoring drive to tie the game at 7 early in the third quarter but the Raiders regained control of the momentum after that. Carter Rutherford picked up a big gain on an option play and Johnson got loose for a 44-yard touchdown run to put Good Hope back in front 14-7. Johnson ran in his second score of the night, this time from 24 yards out, on the next Raider possession to stretch the lead to 21-7 midway through the third. Johnson’s big third quarter continued on the next Good Hope possession with his third rushing touchdown of the game, giving the Raiders a 28-7 lead going into the fourth.

The Bulldogs found the end zone midway through the fourth quarter to trim the lead to 28-15 but a 4-yard touchdown run by Drake put the finishing touches on a 35-15 region win for the Raiders.

Good Hope (8-1) will wrap up the regular season at (9-0) Fairview next week.
