34th annual Mud Creek Marching Festival set for Saturday

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Bands from across north Alabama will take the field Saturday, Oct. 25, at Hanceville High School for the 34th Annual Mud Creek Marching Festival, a full day of music, precision and community spirit.

Gates open at 9 a.m., with Meek High School leading off the day’s performances at 10:30.

The morning lineup includes Falkville, Vinemont, East Lawrence, Lexington, Hatton, Lauderdale County, Ider and Cold Springs, all competing in the A Class division.

After a short break, the festival continues into the afternoon with A Purple Class entries including Holly Pond, Shelby County, Colbert Heights, Winston County and Red Bay. 

These bands will be followed by AA and AAA Classes featuring Cordova, A.P. Brewer, Good Hope, Brooks, East Limestone, Danville, Holtville, Fairview, Lamar County, Priceville and West Point.

Following a dinner break from 4:15-5:45 p.m., the evening performances begin with Ardmore, Mountain Brook, Hazel Green, Mortimer Jordan and Vestavia Hills in Classes AAAA and AAAAA.

Hanceville High School will perform in exhibition at 8:50 p.m., and the University of North Alabama will close the festival at 9:05 before the awards presentation at 9:30.

Admission is $10 per person, with children 5 and younger admitted free. The event is cash only, and parking is free. Gates open at 9 a.m.

The Mud Creek Marching Festival has become a staple of the fall season, showcasing months of preparation and passion from student musicians across the region. Audiences can expect an exciting mix of artistry and competition as each band takes the field in hopes of earning top honors.
