HANCEVILLE, Ala. – “It is with great excitement that we report Wallace State Chief of Police Shane Drake has been announced as a winner of the 2025 ACCS Chancellor’s Award in the administrator category,” the department reported.
The Chancellor’s Award is given annually in recognition of outstanding leadership and management, creativity and dedicated service within the 24 schools of the Alabama Community College System.
Drake began his law enforcement career in 1996 serving with the Cullman Police Department and later the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office. In 2012 he joined the Wallace State Police Department serving in a variety of roles. In 2023, he was appointed the second chief of police in the history of the Wallace State Police Department.
“During Chief Drake’s tenure, our police department has seen a period of growth and advancement, implementing the latest technology, training and policy to provide a full spectrum of law enforcement services to Wallace State and our campus community,” said the department. “In addition, Chief Drake’s leadership has seen the department push forward the education mission on Wallace State, providing training to law enforcement agencies across the state of Alabama, multiple U.S. states and even law enforcement agencies from Canada that have come to Hanceville to learn.
