CULLMAN, Ala. – A local man has died following a shooting that happened in the Simcoe area on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick identified the victim as Jessy Hooper, 29.
Deputies with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting in the Simcoe area Wednesday. Upon arrival, the CCSO said, the deputies located a man who had been shot.
Kilpatrick said Hooper died later that day at an area hospital.
Authorities said the person believed to be responsible for the shooting was detained at the scene.
At this time, they said, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The CCSO said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
