Baileyton council recognizes Calloway, Griffin

BAILEYTON, Ala. – Mayor Windell Calloway commenced the monthly session of the Baileyton Town Council on Oct. 6. The meeting opened with an invocation led by Councilman Greg Griffin.

The meeting began by recognizing Calloway and Griffin for their numerous years of service.

Mayor-Elect Benny Guthrie presented Calloway with a plaque to honor his years of service to the Town of Baileyton. Calloway served as a Baileyton council member from 2008-2020. He then transitioned to the role of mayor, where he served through the 2025 election.

Said Calloway, “Thank you to everyone who has helped the last five years especially…thank you.”

Next, Calloway presented Griffin with a plaque to commemorate his years of service. Griffin has served as a council member since 2012 and will leave next month when the new council is sworn in.

Calloway stated, “Greg’s been on the council for 13 years…I personally want to thank you for everything you’ve done for the town.”

Griffin responded in thanks, stating, “Thank you for allowing us to be of service to the town; it’s been a privilege.”

Upcoming town events:

  • Parkside School Community Breakfast was scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 9, at 8:30 a.m.
  • Cullman Caring for Kids will be at Baileyton Town Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 9 a.m.
  • Professional development seminar for incoming mayor and council members, TBD

The next town council meeting will be Monday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. at Baileyton Town Hall, located at 95 Fire Station Road.
