DECATUR, Ala. – After handling Hayden at home last week, the West Point Warriors hit the road for a region battle with Priceville Friday night. West Point only trailed 7-0 at halftime but the Bulldogs dominated the second half, putting 19 more points on the board to pull away and defeat the Warriors 26-0.
A big gain on a pass from Ayden Ennis to Bryant Moon moved the chains for West Point on its first possession but the Warriors turned the ball over on downs a few plays later. An interception by Nolan Franklin cut the ensuing Priceville drive short but after West Point was forced to punt it away, the Bulldogs found the end zone on their third possession of the night to take a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter. Neither team was able to get much going offensively in the remainder of the first half and the Warriors went into the locker room trailing 7-0 at the break.
Priceville got excellent field position on a big return to start the third quarter, and they took advantage of the momentum, scoring on a 30-yard touchdown pass to pull ahead 14-0 early in the third. After a West Point punt, the Bulldogs put together another scoring drive to move ahead 20-0 midway through the third quarter. A 19-yard touchdown run extended Priceville’s lead to 26-0 going into the fourth quarter.
Neither team was able to get on the board in the final frame, and the Warriors fell to the Bulldogs on the road, 26-0.
West Point (3-3) will be back home for a region game against East Limestone next week.
