CULLMAN, Ala. – The annual Oktoberfest Senior Day took place Friday, and organizers report more than 500 attended the event.
Cullman County Commission on Aging Director Stephanie Lawson said they handed out all 500 armbands, as well as all 525 bingo cards.
“We’ve had such a great time and attendance so far,” Lawson said. “We hosted bingo at noon, a free lunch for the seniors, Good Bellos Band are our live entertainment and we had a visit from (Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Executive Director) Nathan Anderson and Burgermeister Woody Jacobs.”
City of Cullman Senior Program Coordinator Stephanie Neal said last year they planned for 400 senior lunches and used them all — so this year they made 500.
“We are out of our 500 this year, too — it’s been the largest attendance we have had,” Neal said. “Walmart Transportation provided the lunches for our seniors and Premier Bank was our sponsor for today. We are very thankful for their efforts and support. We had a record turnout and it’s been great seeing everyone, truly a fun time for all.”
