ARLEY, Ala. – After dismantling Phillips last week, the Tigers of Meek were back home for another region matchup against Waterloo Friday night. It was another fun night for the Tigers as they jumped out to a 32-6 lead in the first half and they continued pouring it on in the second half, cruising to a 64-6 win over the Cougars.
An 11-yard touchdown run by Hunter Wyatt put the Tigers in front 8-0 early in the first quarter and a 7-yard touchdown pass from Evan McCay to Parker Freeman stretched the lead to 16-0. Waterloo answered with a 30-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 16-6 but those were the only points the Tigers allowed the rest of the night.
A 30-yard touchdown pass from McCay to Brady Baxter gave Meek a 24-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and McCay did it with his legs on the next possession, running one into the end zone from 32 yards out to make it a 32-6 game going into the halftime break.
A 12-yard touchdown run from Wyatt put the Tigers ahead 40-6 midway through the third quarter. Max Powe punched one in from 4 yards out to extend the lead to 48-6 with four minutes remaining in the third and early in the fourth quarter, Koltyn Cannon took a handoff 32 yards for another touchdown to make it 56-6. Cannon got loose for another touchdown run later in the fourth, wrapping up a dominant, 64-6 region win for the Tigers.
Meek (3-2) will be off next week before traveling to Shoals Christian on Oct. 3.
