
HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The Hanceville Bulldogs were back home at Ray Talley Stadium for a big region matchup with Bulldogs of Carbon Hill and this one turned into a track meet. The score was knotted at 28 at halftime but Carbon Hill was able to outpace Hanceville in the second, returning home with a 62-41 win.
Both Bulldog squads exchanged touchdowns in the first quarter to make it 7-7 and the score was still knotted at 14 when the second quarter began. Carbon Hill took a 20-14 lead but Hanceville responded with a touchdown and an extra point to pull ahead 21-20. Another Hanceville touchdown gave the home Bulldogs a 28-20 lead with just over four minutes remaining in the second quarter but Carbon Hill was able to tie things up at 28 by halftime.
Carbon Hill got off to a strong start in the second half, scoring three straight touchdowns to move ahead 48-28 midway through the third quarter. Hanceville was able to trim the lead to 48-34 at the start of the fourth quarter but couldn’t climb back any closer than that and Carbon Hill pulled away to collect a 62-41 win.
Hanceville quarterback Hunter Black racked up five touchdowns in the loss (three rushing, two passing).
Hanceville (0-4) will travel to Oakman next week.
