WEST POINT, Ala. – The West Point Warriors were back home for a big region and county clash against their rivals from Fairview Friday night. The Aggies jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and kept the Warriors at arm’s length for the rest of the night, cruising to a 42-14 region win over the Warriors.

West Point sacked Aggies quarterback Kolt Redding on their first possession, forcing a fumble that was recovered by Slayde Clayton early in the opening period. However, Fairview stepped up on the defensive side, forcing a turnover on downs and getting the ball back to the Aggie offense. A big run from Jake Harper moved the ball into West Point territory and Redding hit Jace Stevens on a 25-yard touchdown pass to give Fairview a 7-0 lead with 7:33 remaining in the first quarter. It didn’t take long for the Aggies to add to their lead. The Warriors were forced to punt on the ensuing possession, but a bad snap was recovered in the end zone by Joseph Harbison for a touchdown, extending Fairview’s lead to 14-0 midway through the first quarter.

Harper got loose for a 65-yard touchdown run later in the first to make it a 21-0 game with five minutes to play in the first. A big run by Titan Thornton moved the Warriors deep into Fairview territory on the ensuing possession but they were unable to get any points on the board and the Aggies held onto a 21-0 lead. However, West Point was able to get on the board later in the second quarter when Ollie Howell took a handoff 53 yards for a touchdown to trim the lead to 21-7. Fairview hit right back on its next drive when Redding hit Jace Stevens in stride for a 65-yard touchdown, putting the Aggies in front 28-7 with 2:36 remaining in the first half. After Fairview forced another West Point punt, Stevens struck again when Redding found him wide open down field for an 80-yard touchdown, giving the Aggies a commanding 35-7 lead at halftime.

Fairview didn’t wait long to add to its lead in the second half. Harper ran one into the end zone from 25 yards out to make it a 42-7 game early in the third quarter and that lead held throughout the rest of the period. Ayden Ennis punched one into the end zone from a yard out later in the fourth quarter to cut into the lead, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early onslaught from the Aggies and Fairview returned home with a 42-14 win over the Warriors.

Fairview (3-0) will return home to face Ardmore next week and West Point (1-2) will travel to Lawrence County.
