BLOUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Cold Springs hit the road for a region game at Susan Moore Friday night and both teams lit up the scoreboard in this one. The Eagles were able to rack up 50 points, but it still wasn’t enough to overcome the Bulldogs and Susan Moore held on to win it 66-50.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter, but Cold Springs responded with a rushing touchdown from Cason Alexnder and the two-point conversion gave the Eagles an 8-6 lead. Susan Moore scored to move back in front 14-8 but a Cooper Johnson interception cut the next Bulldogs’ drive short. Ayden Black found Eli Voce through the air on fourth down for a touchdown to tie the game at 14 with just under a minute remaining in the first quarter.

However, Susan Moore was able to score a pair of touchdowns in the final five minutes of the second quarter to take a 28-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Bulldogs scored two more touchdowns early in the third quarter to stretch their lead to 44-22 but a 71-yard touchdown run by Black cut the lead to 44-30 with just over three minutes remaining in the period. Another Susan Moore score made it a 52-30 game, but Black’s next rushing touchdown trimmed the lead down to 52-38 as the third quarter expired.

After the Bulldogs moved in front 58-38, another touchdown from Alexander made it a 52-44 game with eight minutes left to play. Susan Moore tacked on one more touchdown to pull ahead 66-44 with a little over two minutes remaining. Black connected with Voce for another touchdown to make it 66-50 but the Eagles ran out of time and fell to Susan Moore in a shootout.
