Sen. Gudger presents a $5,000 grant check to Good Hope High School band director Jeremy McFall and principal Jyme Jennings

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Sen. Garlan Gudger, R-Cullman, kicked off football season over the weekend by announcing he will present a $5,000 grant to every public high school band in his district.
“Just like football teams, students in high school bands devote hours in summertime heat to practice and prepare for the upcoming season, and their hard work and commitment deserve reward,” Gudger said. “It’s an established fact that high school bands play a large role in the special feeling, atmosphere and tradition surrounding football season in our Sweet Home Alabama.”

The presentations to 18 high school bands across Cullman, Marion and Winston counties will total $90,000 and are expected to completed in coming weeks. The Good Hope High School band received the first grant check on Friday.

Gudger also offered praise to the band directors, teachers, support personnel and parents who “pour time and energy into making their high school bands shine.”
