FALKVILLE, Ala. – Vinemont traveled to Falkville to kick off the 2025 season against the Blue Devils Friday night but unfortunately for the road crowd, the Eagles were unable to return home with the win.
Falkville took the game’s opening kickoff to the house to take an early, 6-0 lead over Vinemont. Early in the second quarter Falkville had the ball with first and goal looking to extend their lead but on fourth down Brandon Johnson intercepted a pass to give the ball back to the Eagles.
Midway through the second quarter, Caleb Slain tied the game at 6 when he punched one into the end zone from a yard out. However, Falkville regained the lead on the first play of the ensuing drive to go ahead 14-6. After a Vinemont punt, the Devils drove down the field looking to add to their lead before halftime, but Vinemont mounted another goal line stand to keep the game at 14-6 going into the locker room at the break.
Late in the third quarter, Falkville tacked on another touchdown to push the lead to 22-6. Both teams swapped punts back and forth in the fourth quarter and neither offense was able to find the endzone, leading to a 22-6 win for Falkville.
The Eagles (0-1) will be looking to bounce back with a win next week when they return home to host Southeastern.
