ADDISON, Ala. — Addison High School’s Kinsley Nuss just kicked off her junior year, and in this interview, she discusses her faith, starting with when she was saved back in 2017.

“God has meant so much to me. He helps me every day. I’ve been going to church my whole life, but when I got saved in June of 2017, I really felt different. I remember the peace I felt. If I ever feel alone, I know I’m not, because God is there. When I feel anxious, I pray, and it doesn’t always go away, but I have God to help me through it. Walking down the aisle was scary at first, but once I got down there, I really forgot there was other people around. It just felt like it was me and God,” Nuss said. “One of my favorite verses is Psalms 23. I say these verses all the time when I’m stressed, worried, or anxious. It gives me so much peace. I love to listen to the song ‘Still Waters’, because it says these verses in it. Another one of my favorite verses is 1 Corinthians 13:4-5: ‘Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged’. These verses tell us to be patient and kind. God is love, and these verses are describing love. We are called to be like Jesus, and this is what He’s like.”

Kinsley wants to play a part in helping everyone find God, and being a role model to the younger kids, whether it’s at Vacation Bible School, or in and outside of school, is important to her.

“It’s very important. You are never too young or too old to start a relationship with God,” Nuss said. “It’s so important to be a role model to the younger kids. I’ve gotten to teach music at VBS the last two summers with one of my friends, and it’s so much fun. It’s so great to listen to them, because you can learn a lot from the younger kids too. It’s really important to show God through your actions, because they’re looking at you and how you act.”

She has several of her own Godly role models in her life that she looks up to, and she gave advice to anyone that is struggling when it comes to having a relationship with God.

“I’m very blessed to have a lot of Godly role models in my life. My mom is definitely one. She always brought me to church. Her and Cheryl (family friend) are very involved in our church. My sister and cousin both have a good relationship with God that I’ve gotten to see. They are both singers and have always used the talent that God gave them to glorify Him. My uncle is a very important Godly role model for me, and he’s also my Wednesday night teacher,” Nuss said. “I would tell them to get involved with a church. Also, find someone they can trust that they could ask questions to. Most importantly, read and study the Bible daily.”

Kinsley has learned a lot during her walk with God so far.

“Two things I do daily to be close to God are reading the Bible and praying. Reading the Bible in the morning always makes a big difference in my day,” she said. “I’ve learned that the more time I spend with God, reading the Bible, and praying, the better my day is. Everything won’t always be easy, but the hard things are easier with God.”
