
CULLMAN, Ala. – Republican Cindy Myrex bested Republican Clint Hollingsworth in the State House District 12 Special Primary Runoff Election Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Hollingsworth collected 41.47% (2,160) of the vote, while Myrex got 58.53% (3,048).
Alabama Republican Party Chief of Staff Shannon Whitt released the following statement Tuesday night:
“We are grateful to Clint Hollingsworth and Cindy Myrex for running strong campaigns in this important race. Public service requires commitment and sacrifice, and both candidates demonstrated their dedication to the people of House District 12. We look forward to supporting our Republican nominee in the Special General Election this October and keeping this seat in GOP hands.”
The seat has been empty since former Rep. Corey Harbison, R-Good Hope resigned in April.
Myrex will face Democrat Matthew Glover in the State House District 12 Special General Election on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025.
