HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Wallace State Community College struck another enrollment milestone, marking a 10-year high for the summer term with 3,100 students registered for the summer 2025 semester, and is on pace to set another record this fall following an Aspen Rising Star Designation which places Wallace State among the Top 3 community colleges in the nation.

“We are extremely pleased with the increase in enrollment and honored to serve our communities and the students who entrust us with their time and investment in education,” said Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Karolewics. “We are steadfastly committed to providing the very best educational opportunities for our students and our region.”

Since 2016, summer enrollment has fluctuated from around 2,500 to nearly 3,000 but since the 2012 recession never passed the 3,000 mark until this semester. This semester marks the third consecutive semester increase. Fall 2024 and spring 2025 enrollment also set 10-year records.

The uptick in enrollment is a testament to Wallace State’s reputation and its partnerships in dual enrollment, university transfer and workforce.

Recent additions to program offerings include Hotel and Restaurant Management, Nutrition Management, Digital Fabrication, Revenue and Database Management in Health Information, and Artificial Intelligence Programming, Cloud Computing and Systems Engineering Technology. A Speech and Language Pathology Assistant program will begin as soon as spring semester, extending Wallace State’s reputation as the state’s premier provider of two-year health science education.

Registration for the fall 2025 semester is underway, with classes beginning on Aug. 19 for regular and Mini Term I and Oct. 16 for Mini Term II. Registration and classes begin Aug. 26 for Flex Start Term I and Sept. 2 for Flex Start Term II.
