HOLLY POND, Ala. — Holly Pond High School’s Bellah Carr is about to start her junior year, and in this interview, she discusses her relationship with God, starting with a Bible verse that has completely changed her life.

“God means everything to me. I go to church on Sunday and Wednesday, and I also do Bible studies with my cousin. God has changed my life little by little, things like making my day better or just by seeing what I didn’t see in people before. That has made me a better person,” Carr said. “John 14:27 is a Bible verse where Jesus tells His disciples, ‘Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid’. It’s only interpreted as a message of comfort and reassurance.”

Bellah wants to make sure that everyone finds God, no matter their age, and being a role model for kids is important to her. She has her fair share of Godly role models that she feels blessed to have in her life.

“It’s very important, no matter what age they are, because everybody, no matter what age they are, should have a chance to know God,” Carr said. “Being a role model for kids is super important. You can really shape how they see the world and what they think is possible. My Godly role models are my parents and my friends from New Hope #2. They mean the world. I love them all so much.”

She took part in a church camp that changed so many lives and hearing their stories helped her out so much.

“We had a church camp this summer at New Hope, and we had a serving project every day. One day, we were helping people clean up the yards that couldn’t do it, and the next day, we were in Wal-Mart, giving tracks to people and spreading the gospel. Some people would take it, and you could just see how much their lives change in that moment. It was just the most amazing, joyful feeling ever, and it also helps you too. It gives you this joy that you’ve never felt before. It’s just remarkable what God can do in just five minutes. We heard so many people’s testimonies. Hearing how they overcame things in their life helped me realize that I can overcome the little things, because other people overcame really big things in their life.”

Bellah shared some advice with anyone that is struggling when it comes to having a relationship with God.

“My advice to them would be to not let yourself make excuses for not reading the Bible. The more you read the Bible, the closer you get. The closer you get, the more you want to read, and the more you want to read, the stronger your relationship gets with Him,” she said. “I listen to worship music while I’m cleaning my room or doing schoolwork. I also love to pray throughout the day. What I’ve learned is that you can’t be in control. God’s in control, and that you can’t have one foot in sin and the other being a Godly person. You have to choose between worldly things or Godly things.”
