CULLMAN, Ala. – The Heartland Quilters Guild hosted its 2025 quilt show, the “Heartland Revival,” Aug. 1-2, at St. Andrew’s Global Methodist Church. The event showcased dozens of beautiful quilts, vendors, live demonstrations and a donation quilt drawing.
A special moment of this year’s show was the honoring of Vietnam veteran Raymond Williamson with a handmade quilt from Quilts of Valor. Williamson served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, including during the Tet Offensive. The Quilts of Valor Foundation has awarded over 400,000 quilts to veterans and service members nationwide as a gesture of gratitude for their service.
The guild was founded in 2001 and currently has around 55 members and holds a monthly meeting at Christ Covenant Presbyterian Church. Each year, the group chooses to support a charity; this year, it is the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. In the past, the group has assisted in creating quilts for the unsheltered, stuffed toys for children in crisis and presentations through the Quilts of Valor Foundation.
The quilt show helps fund the guild’s programs and educational events. Membership is $25 annually and open to all skill levels. For more information, interested quilters are welcome to attend a meeting (second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at Christ Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cullman).
