CULLMAN, Ala. –  Cullman County Parks and Recreation Director, Hanceville City Councilman and local businessman Kenneth Cornelius has announced he will seek the Republican nomination for the office of Cullman County revenue commissioner.

Cornelius said he believes his successful track record as a small business owner makes him uniquely qualified for the public office.

“I will put my 32 years of business experience to work and always place the citizens of Cullman County first,” Cornelius said. “I believe in a transparent government where taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and citizens are treated with respect.”

Cornelius said he began his business career as an entrepreneur at the age of 24 when he purchased his first business, a Havoline Xpress Lube.

“I diversified my company into multiple express lubes, car washes, a coffee shop, storage facilities and various rental properties,” he said. “I have also been in the cattle business for 15 years.”

Cornelius said he considers himself a conservative Republican.

“I was elected to the Cullman County Republican Executive Committee in 2010, where I have served as party chairman, party vice-chairman and chairman of the candidate committee,” he said. “I am an active member of my local church, I have been ordained a deacon, and have served on the board of Fellowship of Christian Athletes for 21 years.”

In 2024, Cornelius became Cullman County Parks and Recreation director. He serves on the Cullman County Tourism Board and was appointed to the E-911 Board. He was appointed to the Hanceville City Council in March 2024.

Cornelius is a graduate of Hanceville High School and attended Wallace State Community College. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Tammy Cornelius, for over 32 years.

They have two children: son Garrett Cornelius (wife Bailey Cornelius) and daughter Townley Cornelius.

The office of Cullman County revenue commissioner will be on the ballot in 2026.
