CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City School Board met July 28 to discuss personnel matters and action items before the start of the new school year.

Approved action items included the renewal of the dual credit agreement between Cullman High School and Wallace State Community College. This agreement allows eligible students in grades 10 through 12 to earn college credit while still in high school. The deal outlines procedures for students to take Dual Enrollment classes either on Cullman High’s campus or at WSCC. Students are required to have at least a 2.5 unweighted GPA and receive approval demonstrating academic readiness to qualify. College-level courses are reflected on transcripts as credit-bearing classes. While families are generally responsible for tuition, fees and materials, WSCC often secures a grant that waives these costs for students who enroll before the annual spring deadline. The program includes both core academic subjects like English and math, as well as career technical options.

A detailed personnel report was also discussed at the meeting. Resignations were accepted from Kristen Edge and Emily Smith, who served as special education instructional assistants. Several staff transfers were approved, primarily involving Head Start personnel relocating to Cullman City Primary School Pre-K positions.

Conditional employment offers were extended for instructional assistants, teachers and child nutrition staff. Several stipends and supplemental assignments for the 2025-2026 school year were also approved, covering areas like mass media, Interact Club, math team and athletic coaching. The board also approved multiple contracts related to the Extended Day Program and Child Nutrition Program for the upcoming school year.

The Cullman City School Board’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 5 p.m. at the main office at 301 First St. NE.
