CULLMAN, Ala. – After 17 years, Rickey Kreps retires from the board of the Cullman Housing Authority.
Executive Director Marquisha Griffin said Kreps served on the board from 2008-2025, and was the chair of the board from 2011-2023.
“He provided consistent leadership during a period of significant growth and transformation within the agency,” she said. “Under his chairmanship, CHA secured over $12.5 million in Capital Fund Improvement Grants, enabling major infrastructure improvements across all public housing units. He also advocated for and supported the construction of six fully handicapped-accessible units, increasing access to inclusive housing options.”
Griffin said Kreps is deeply committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents through dignified, compassionate service.
“He helped foster a strong, mission-driven board,” she said. “He cited the formation of the current board the (past five years) as one of his proudest accomplishments. He also played a key role in the support of the community garden, which promotes resident wellness, connection and sustainability.”
When asked about his proudest moments, Kreps shared his appreciation for the board’s current synergy and the creation of the community garden.
