HOLLY POND, Ala. – Holly Pond High’s Bryanna Holloway will be a senior in August, and in this interview, she discusses her faith, and how much being saved helped her be a light to other people in her life.

“God has played a role in honestly every aspect of my life, even when I don’t know the plan I’m going on. I mean, He gave me life and saved it. Through every trial, every pre-salvation, God has been a part of my life. He has done a complete 180 with my life. Before I got saved, I was living a life full of sin. I was struggling mentally and just genuinely wasn’t a good person. After I got saved, God healed my life and convicted me of the sins I was struggling with and showed me that I wasn’t living right and changed my life completely. I was happy that I could try and be a light to the people in my life who I knew was lost.”

Bryanna shared a trio of her favorite Bible verses, and they all mean the world to her.

“One of my favorite Bible verses is Galatians 2:20: ‘I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me’. This verse is probably my favorite, because it shows that Christ is part of my life and truly loved me and gave His life for me, dying for my sins, though He was perfect. His love is so undeserving, yet He still died for us. I also love Matthew 28:19-20: ‘Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age’. This verse helped a lot. Sometimes after salvation, we ask God, ‘What now’? and this verse tells us what to do. After our church camp, I have loved going out and sharing the Gospel, and it’s encouraged me a lot. This verse represents the desire God has laid on my heart to become a missionary. Another one that I love is Isaiah 43:2: ‘When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire, you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you’. This verse shows that God is always with us, and nothing can steal our salvation.”

It’s important for Bryanna to help people of all ages find God, but she also wants to be a role model for younger kids. She talked about some Godly role models in her own life that she looks up to.

“I think it’s important for everyone to find God and that Christians help encourage them and plant the seed in their lives. It is important to be a good role model for kids, because kids really do look up to older teens, and they will copy your actions. Showing the fruits of the Spirit to younger kids can help positively influence them,” Holloway said. “My Godly role models are my pastor and his wife. They really pour into the youth, and since I’ve been going to New Hope #2, they haven’t given up on me, and it means a lot to have that in your life and your walk with Christ. Finding friends who love the Lord as much as you do does benefit you, because they will hold you accountable, and just encourage you.”

She has taken part in so many mission trips, and has helped show a lot of people the love of God.

“My first one was when I went to Mexico. I really enjoyed it, because it opened my eyes up to people who live differently than I do, and to just be grateful for what I do have, because we complain about not having good enough stuff that we want, but some people don’t even have the stuff they need. Though they didn’t have much, they still loved the Lord the same way I do and was consent with it. The other mission trips were at World Changers. This year, it was in Cullman, and it was great. I loved it, and I just love serving people and showing them the love of God through my actions and words. I think I just have the desire in my heart to serve and share and every year, it’s been great.”

Bryanna gave some advice to those people who are either struggling or are new when it comes to having a relationship with God.

“If you want to start, you just have to start. If you keep saying, ‘I’ll read my Bible tonight’, and then you forget and say, ‘I’ll read it tomorrow’, then it won’t get you anywhere if you just keep putting it off. You can’t build a relationship with someone if you never want to spend time with them. As Christians, you will struggle, and I have also. I have gone through a period of doubt and never wanting to open my Bible, but the best thing is that God is always waiting for you with open arms. God knows our walk won’t be perfect, and He will forgive where we fail, but we can’t take advantage of His forgiveness.”

Bryanna likes to start her day by spending time with God, and she has learned a couple of important things during her walk with Him so far.

“I wake up and instead of grabbing my phone, I grab my Bible and just spend time with God. When you start your day off with the Word, it just makes your day go so much better personally,” she said. “I’ve learned that God is always with you through everything. I’ve had many trials and through all of them, He has been there for me. You can’t be lukewarm. You can’t have one foot with the world and one foot with God.” (Revelation 3:15-16)
