GOOD HOPE, Ala. — Good Hope High School’s Madison Green will be starting her junior year in August, and in this interview, she discussed her faith, and the role God has played in her life.
“He has played a big role in my life. I have gone through a lot of things this year where I have questioned God and why those things have happened to me. Every single time, he has shown me that those things happened for the better. It is so much better than what I thought it was. He has changed my life so much. He has shown me the true meaning of life. He has shown me the importance of life and to cherish what you have. He has brought me so many new friends that I didn’t know I needed and has helped guide me through every obstacle I’ve come across.”
Madison shared two of her favorite Bible verses, and helping people of all ages find God is important to her, along with being a role model for younger kids.
“My favorite Bible verses are Philippians 4:13 and Matthew 6:34. They mean a lot to me, because they talk about worrying and to just trust in God in everything I do, and I struggle with anxiety and overthinking a lot. When I find myself overthinking and worrying, I just remind myself of those verses and that God is always there for me,” Green said. “I think that people of all ages should know God for their benefit. God works miracles in so many ways, and I feel that everyone needs to know Him and see that He loves each and every one of us. I believe that everyone should know who God is and that He can change your life, no matter what state you are in. I think that is so important, because often times, people think that because of their past and what they’ve done that God can never love them. That’s not true, and I think that everyone needs to know that,” Madison said. “I want kids to see that God is the most important thing in their life, and that although their friends might be doing things that aren’t right, they don’t have to do those things just to be cool. I want to be a light for kids to look upon and realize that it’s okay to not want to do things just because your friends are. It’s okay to stand out and show your love for Jesus and how good He is.”
Madison looks up to a few Godly role models in her life, and they gave her some great advice.
“I really look up to my small group leader Bonnie, my best friend Kloe White, my other best friend, Mckenzie McDonald, and my mom. They mean so much to me. They are always there when I need them, and they give the best advice. The best advice they’ve ever given me is even though I may not like some of the things that are happening to me, there’s much better coming from it, and that all you can do is pray about it,” Green said. “We got baptized on April 6th of this year. I loved being able to be there for my friends while getting baptized and getting to be a part of their walk with God. Getting to witness them give their life to Jesus was so amazing. Getting baptized alongside them meant so much to me. Being able to have them on my walk with God and being able to be there for them also was amazing. We each got to share our own experiences and how God has changed our own lives. It was so special.”
Madison likes to start her day with some special music and she has already learned so much during her journey so far.
“I really like to turn on worship music. I listen to it when I get ready or in the car going somewhere. I just feel like it really changes my mindset,” she said. “I feel like I have learned to just be myself and not do things because other people are doing them. I’ve also learned that the best way to become closer to God is to surround yourself with Godly people who not only want that for you, but for themselves also.”
