GOOD HOPE, Ala. – Good Hope High School’s Kynzlee Garmon will be a junior in August, and in this interview, she discusses her faith, and how an injury helped her grow even closer to God.

“God means everything to me, because I know He’s always there, no matter what. He brings light into my life and keeps me centered, especially because of a recent knee injury that has taken me out of my sports and activities. I’ve had to really circle positivity around myself and knowing that He is there has really helped me with the pain and stress,” Garmon said. “Honestly, God’s been a total lifesaver, especially when things get super tough. Turning to my faith helps me stay strong and hopeful, and I don’t even know where I’d be without Him.”

Kynzlee shared her favorite Bible verse and it’s important to her to help people of all ages find God and be a role model for younger kids.

“My favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 12:9: ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness’. This means a lot to me, because it is one of my mom’s favorite verses and whenever I was nervous or stressed about sports or my surgery, she’d remind me of this verse, and I love the meaning of it,” Garmon said. “I really believe everyone deserves someone to trust and believe in. I would love all ages to be able to experience the love and strength God gives. It means a lot to me to be someone younger kids can look up to, whether it’s on the field/court, in the classroom, or just in life. I try to set a good example in everything I do, even if it’s a good thing or even a mistake.”

Kynzlee shared her favorite Godly role model that she really admires, and even though she hasn’t been on a mission yet, she has heard of so many amazing missions that people have been on and that has inspired her to participate in one herself.

“A big one for me would be Sadie Robertson Huff, who is a true inspiration, and she shows how to live out her faith in a real and relatable way. She’s not just talking the walk; she’s walking the walk. She’s using her platform to encourage others in their relationships with God. Her openness about her own struggles and how she leans on faith makes her someone I really admire,” Garmon said. “I’m always inspired by people who dedicate their time to helping others and spreading positivity. Hearing about those missions definitely makes me want to get involved and help out someday. It’s really inspiring to see people making a difference, and I hope to do the same.”

She gave some advice to those people who want a relationship with God but might be either struggling or are new to that experience. She also shared a couple of Godly rituals that she likes to do with her mom.

“My advice would be to find a community of other believers to connect with. Being around others or even friends who share your faith can be super encouraging, helpful, and easier to talk to about your faith. My biggest help was one of my best friends whose family is absolutely amazing. She invited me to come to her church’s VBS, and I fell in love with the atmosphere. I couldn’t stop going. If someone told me they wanted to start their journey, I’d invite them to tag along with me to my church or one of my Bible Study groups,” she said. “Me and my mom have recently started doing daily scriptures and every Sunday, I have to work. Since I can’t go to church due to that, we watch a service video relay that morning before work. Me and my mom have grown closer because of the scriptures, so they mean the world to me.”

Kynzlee shared a tough life experience that she went through, and how much that helped her get even closer to the Lord. She has learned some very important lessons during her journey so far.

“A life-changing event that has happened to me has to be when I tore my ACL, because I was so stressed and worried about surgery and recovery, but knowing I had God on my shoulder and my family right there with me, my stress and worries disappeared. I’ve been really focused on recovery and physical therapy, because I know that God’s with me every step of the way,” she said. “What I’ve learned so far is that you’re always going to have doubts and worries, but all you can do is not give up, and keep going, no matter what.”
