CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Parks and Recreation will host the Smith Lake Park 4th of July Festival on Friday, July 4, from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
Cullman County Parks and Recreation Director Kenneth Cornelius said this is a cash-only event to enter and is $5 per person or $20 per vehicle.
“The Smith Lake Park Fireworks Festival has been a family tradition for generations of Cullman County residents and others all over north Alabama,” Cornelius said. “The festival brings 10,000-plus to enjoy one of Cullman County best assets – Smith Lake Park.”
He said the event has many things to offer, from swimming to camping to listening to a great lineup of bands to shopping with local vendors – and, of course, fireworks.
“Anytime you can bring people from all over north Alabama to come together and enjoy the outdoors and one of the biggest fireworks shows in Alabama right here at home in Cullman County,” Cornelius said. “It takes all of our great park staff working hard to make the festival events come together for weeks before and after. The Cullman County Commission has really made a great investment into Smith Lake Park with festivals like this; our two new cabins on the lake and our new bathroom that was just completed.”
Cornelius also expressed gratitude to the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office.
“They make us all feel safe while they work hard hours in the heat doing a great job getting everyone into and out of the park safe,” he said. “Thanks to everyone for supporting Cullman County Parks. With our citizens’ help and support, we can make Cullman County Parks better each day. When you come to the park, please be patient and have a great time and enjoy celebrating the 4th of July with us.”
Live music starts at noon with Michael Warren followed by Daniel Bowden at 2:30 p.m., Crooked Creek at 4:30 and Brooke Lee at 7. The fireworks show will begin at 9.
