CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman City Schools has announced the appointment of Coach Mike Dean as its new athletic director.
“Coach Dean, who has served admirably as the interim Athletic Director for the past six months, brings a wealth of athletic experience and dedication to this role,” said a media release.
During his tenure as interim athletic director, Dean has successfully cultivated strong relationships with current coaches and booster programs, the release said. His leadership was instrumental in overseeing key appointments, including the hiring of Trent Walker as the new football coach, Tammy West as women’s basketball coach and Drew Bryson as softball coach.
Cullman City Schools Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff expressed his confidence in Dean, stating, “Just in six months of working with him in the interim role, I have learned firsthand about Mike’s proactive approach and his commitment to student athletes. He exemplifies dedication, problem-solving skills and a genuine concern for all athletic programs — from cheer and archery to baseball and football.”
The release said Dean is known for his collaborative spirit and proactive management style, working closely with Cullman High administration to address challenges and implement effective solutions. His charismatic leadership has fostered a culture of trust and excellence within the athletic department, focusing on what is best for every student athlete.
