Henry James Twitty Sr, age 84, of Colony, AL, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, May 19, 2025. He was born on Sept. 21st, 1940, to Midas Henry Twitty & Essie Lou Wilson Twitty in Colony, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Henry James Twitty Jr, infant daughter Janet Twitty, great grandson Elijah Harris, sisters Henrietta Munford, Sally Washington, Louise Parker, Laura Colvin, and Vila Twitty.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Myra Carol New Twitty, sons Michael Twitty Sr. (Deborah), Kenneth Twitty (Pam), Leland Twitty (Gina), daughters Joyce Fields, Rosanna Twitty, stepdaughters Dixie Richter (Jerry) and Myra Waddell (Jessica), sisters Margaret Dimbo and Jeanetta Leeth, 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews & friends.
He worked at Lanson, Americold & Larkwood. He was a man of many skills. He loved his family, community and friends. He was a dedicated member of Logan Baptist Church. A visitation for Henry will be held Friday, May 23, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, 1901 2nd Avenue, N.W., Cullman, Alabama 35055. The funeral service will occur on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 1 p.m. Moss Service Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jimmy McClendon, Rev. Anthony Clark and Rev. Willie James Twitty officiating. The interment will follow at Bethsadia Baptist Cemetery, 1365 County Road 421, Cullman, AL 35057.
