FAIRVIEW, Ala. – Mayor Keith Henry commenced the monthly session of the Fairview Town Council on May 5, 2025. The meeting opened with an invocation led by Julie Grimes.
A major order of business included Henry discussing the $144,500 Community Development Block Grant recently awarded to the Town of Fairview for the sewer project intended to support the new Jack’s Family Restaurant. In announcing the grant last week, Gov. Kay Ivey’s office said the Town of Fairview contributed $58,160 to the project.
Henry stated, “I hope nobody was misled; the Town is not paying $58,000. The money is not coming from the Town’s funds but from other grants.” He continued by acknowledging other grants that have been obtained and applied for to complete the sewer project.
When asked about ground breaking on the project, Henry disclosed that the engineers of the project are still working out final details. “Jack’s wants to be in the building by January 2026, so groundbreaking will be expected soon,” he said.
At last month’s council meeting, the Town of Fairview made a donation in memory of late fire chief, Alan Miner. Clint Hayes with the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department attended the May council session to thank the Town and display the equipment its donation helped provide.
The fire department was able to purchase two rescue saws and three backpack blowers. Each fire engine is now equipped with a saw, which is used to cut through steel, concrete or any other material that could prevent life-saving measures. Likewise, each brush truck is now equipped with a blower that can be used to quickly and efficiently remove debris that acts as fuel to fires.
Hayes stated, “We appreciate you for being thoughtful enough to do that in memory of Alan. It was money well spent and a top-of-the-line product, so thank you.”

- Clint Hayes requested a parking lot extension of 30 feet for the fire department
- Discussion of patching holes in county roads
- Motion made to pay bills
The next Fairview Town Council meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on June 2, 2025, at Fairview Town Hall located at 7525 Alabama Highway 69.
