FAIRVIEW, Ala. — Fairview senior Jordan Simmons has spent the last six seasons playing on the Aggies’ JV and varsity softball teams and in this interview, she shared some of her favorite memories from all that time spent on the field alongside her friends and teammates.

“Honestly, it’s just the little stuff. Watching and playing with some of my best friends and the greatest girls always makes for good times,” Simmons said. “It’s a blessing. Not many people can say that they have such a great bunch of teammates. They’ve really helped me become the best person I can be. Most of us grew up together, and we’ve really influenced each other.”

Jordan talked about her favorite softball game that she was a part of. She learned so much from her coaches, and she’ll deeply miss playing at Fairview.

“Most of the games were pretty fun, but my favorite was probably the county championship last year. The game was intense, but everyone was high in spirits and fought hard,” Simmons said. “All of our coaches were amazing. They taught us to give it our all and to enjoy the things around us. I’ll always remember the fun I had, and I’ll miss the team the most.”

Jordan shared some of her favorite memories made in school as well. Fairview will always hold a special place in her heart, and she’ll remember the friends that she was able to make there. She also gave some advice to younger students preparing to start high school in August.

“My favorite high school memories were going to the football games, homecoming week, and playing softball. It’s an amazing community with a strong sense of family. Everyone truly wants the best for each other. I’ll remember getting to be around my friends, and I’ll definitely miss them the most,” Simmons said. “Do everything you want to, every sport, and every club. Try your best, and be kind to yourself and to others,” she said. “Honestly, all of my teachers and my current coaches have been amazing role models, as well as our secretary, Mrs. Nichols. They all mean the world to me, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.”

Jordan also participated in some clubs at Fairview and talked about receiving a scholarship from UAB.

“I was in the Honor Society and the Youth Leadership Development Program. Those clubs helped teach me to give back. It was an amazing feeling to receive a scholarship from UAB,” Simmons said. “Lots of hard work went into school, so seeing the rewards of it is truly so special. It was a huge relief to have some money to put towards furthering my education.”

Jordan has learned a lot during her time as an Aggie and her faith has played a big role in her life.

“I think I really learned how important it is to surround yourself with the right people,” she said. “I always pray before games for the safety of my team and our opponents. If someone came to me telling me about troubles that they were having, I offer to pray for/with them. God has always played a major role in my life, and I believe that He led my parents here and has guided me throughout my life here. My favorite Bible verses are Psalm 46 and Joshua 1:9. They helped me so much, and they reminded me that I’m not alone, and that God will always be with me.”
