FAIRVIEW, Ala. – Mayor Keith Henry commenced the monthly session of the Fairview Town Council on April 7, 2025. The meeting opened with an invocation led by Julie Grimes.
The council discussed a new resolution to apply for grants to install a new sewer line in hopes of welcoming new businesses to the community. Former Fairview Mayor Randall Shedd, met with Sen. Garlan Gudger, R-Cullman (whom Shedd works with in Montgomery) on behalf of the Town of Fairview to work on acquiring funds to support this new infrastructure item.
The council reported that Gudger assured Shedd that the majority of the funds could be secured; however, the Town would have to supply an additional $4,000 to complete the project. Henry proposed a resolution to apply for additional grants to meet their financial goal. After careful deliberation, the motion passed with 4 -1 approval from the council.
The council discussed solidifying a donation plan in memory of late Fairview Volunteer Fire Department Chief Alan Miner. At its previous meeting, the council voted to make a donation to the fire department rather than simply send flowers to show their respect.
Clint Hayes of the VFD spoke to the council about potential needs for the department. Hayes listed several items at varying price points and noted, “Whatever you feel like you can do, we’d love to have it.” The council approved a $5,000 donation for the department to spend as needed.
In other business:
- Council approved a request from Angie Carter for a $100 donation to Ms. Senior Alabama
- Council adopted a resolution to change polling place for the Aug. 26, 2025, Municipal Election from town hall to the Fairview Senior Center due to the County’s General Election being the same day at town hall
