Obituary: Bennie “Nate” Harvell

Bennie (Nate) Harvell, 84, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025. He was born on August 17th, 1940 in Cullman, Alabama. 

Nate had an enormous love for life and was a hard-working dreamer. He loved his country and served in the United States Navy. At age 4, he discovered a love for music, which led him to become successful as a country musician. While in the music industry, he received a CMA award for the hit song, “Three Times a Lady.” He was also a successful businessman and entrepreneur. 

Nate changed many lives by his positive and encouraging attitude that made people feel like they could do or be anything. He was a great storyteller and loved to tell the stories of his unique adventures as well as his love for Jesus. He was a loving father to his son Nathan Harvell and a great “Poppy” to his wonderful granddaughter Ava Harvell. 

Nate is predeceased by his parents, Ben Harvell and Ruby Harvell; sister, Ruby Persall; and brothers Howard Persall, Charles Persall, and Huel Persall. Left to carry on his legacy are his son Nathan Harvell, granddaughter Ava Harvell, niece Carol Dyer (Larry), nephew Paul Johnsey, friends April Harvell and Lisa Bice, as well as a host of many dear relatives and friends. 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025 at the Moss Funeral Home. Visitation will occur from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. and the funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at East Pointe Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.
