CULLMAN, Ala. – The second annual Vitals for Victims drive will begin collecting laundry products on Jan. 2 and continue through Jan. 31. This drive will directly benefit Victim Services of Cullman and Winston counties. This year’s focus is on providing essential laundry items for women and children in need, but all donations are welcome.
Dynea Boyd, organizer of the drive, was inspired by her client Gwen Parker’s involvement with Victim Services. Boyd started the drive last year after seeing the breadth of needs of women and children supported by the organization.
“Since the first drive we did a year ago, various people have dropped off numerous items all last year for me to pass on to Victim Services,” Boyd shared.
Boyd is encouraging the community to donate products such as laundry detergent for sensitive skin, baby detergents and laundry baskets while emphasizing that any donations will be greatly appreciated.
“There are so many needs at Victim Services. And since I want to make this an annual drive, I randomly chose laundry items as the focus this year. But we will accept any items.”
To Boyd, helping those in need is a way to make a profound impact in the community, a purpose she has witnessed through Vitals for Victims: “A quote from another foundation, Tunnel to Towers, paraphrases the Word: ‘Let us do good.’ It is such a simple idea, but one that can positively impact so many. Thank you to all who are helping our community.”
Community members interested in contributing to this year’s drive are encouraged to contact Dynea Boyd at 256-531-2055. All drop-offs can be made at The Legacy Salon on Monday, Thursday or Friday from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Saturday drop-offs can be made from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The Legacy Salon is located at 1640 Town Square SW in Cullman.
