CULLMAN, Ala. – The main branch of the Cullman County Public Library System had kids roaring with excitement on Saturday, Nov. 16. Youngsters came pouring in at 10 a.m. for a T-Rex Tea Party. The crowd was so large that library employees rushed to add another table with tea party supplies.

“So we’re going to start the day with a tea party and one of our librarians, Laura, is going to be reading a story called ‘T-Rex.’ It goes through etiquette, manners and what not to do. There is going to be a special visitor at that time, a dinosaur, who is showing up to show what not to do,” Library Page Raegan Lindsey explained before the festivities began. “After that, there will be 15 minutes for a break. Kids can look at books, do a scavenger hunt that we have out for them. Then we have seven stations with different crafts and activities. One of them is going to be making fossils. The other is going to be digging for fossils and dusting off sand around them. It’s going to be a lot of fun with a lot of moving parts for sure.”

One of the tea party participants, Faith Baker, 9, spoke about her experience during the event.

“We had a great time today. We had some apple juice and we had some cookies, but I ate all of mine. There was a person dressed as a dinosaur; we danced and had a lot of fun, and they read to us about being very polite. My experience here is hilarious and I had a great time.”

November is celebrated as dinosaur month at the CCPLS. Check out the library’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cullmancountypubliclibrarysystem for more info.
