CULLMAN, Ala. – Ladies and gentlemen, find your lures! Cullman County Parks and Recreation (CCPR) will host the 11th annual Bass Fest fishing tournament at Smith Lake Park on Saturday, Oct. 5.  Registration is open until Thursday Oct. 4 at 6 p.m., when a mandatory meeting is scheduled for all participants at the Cullman County Agricultural Trade Center.

Fishermen and competing teams will cast off in the early morning of Oct. 5, hoping to win one of the guaranteed payouts of the tourney.

“It will kick off at safe light, somewhere between 6:15-6:45 a.m., depending on factors like fog conditions, ensuring safety of all participants,” shared CCPR Director Kenneth Cornelius.

The entry fee of $175 buys fishing teams the chance to win the first place prize of $15,000; the team with the largest fish and parent and child teams who score the highest will be in the running for an additional $500 in prize money. Competitors in the top 40 spots will win a guaranteed prize.

Cornelius said, “The weigh-in will start at 3 p.m. with the check presentations and awards as soon as all anglers are officially weighed and a winner is crowned.”
