Funeral service for Robert Theron Bishop, age 86, of Cullman, is Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Mike Waters and Bro. Steve Cummings officiating.  Visitation will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at the chapel and Mr. Bishop will lie in state on Sunday at the chapel, from 1-2 p.m.  Interment will be at Cullman Memory Gardens.

Robert Theron Bishop, born on March 26, 1938, in Temple, Georgia, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and hard work.  He was a son of Olen Ferrell Bishop and Mary Clara Blackwood Bishop. Robert attended West Point High School and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1966, embodying a spirit of dedication and service.

Following his military career, Robert became a successful entrepreneur, founding and managing several businesses, including Cullman Janitorial and Servicemaster of Cullman. His expertise also led him to a 13-year role as a modular home service technician. In his later years, he found joy in serving the community at the Cullman Senior Center and the Meals on Wheels program until his retirement in 2020.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie, to whom he was a devoted husband and shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his children: Tammy Bishop, Darrel Bishop (Mary), Rita (Michael) Fromhold, and LaDonna (Quentin) Ward. He took immense pride in his grandchildren: Nathan (Aubrey) Bishop, Nolen Bishop, Magan (Jonathon) Bartlett, Kayla Fromhold, Jordan (Trey) Smith, and Brandon (Jonna) Ward, as well as his great-grandchildren: Claire, Michael, and Caroline Bartlett; Chandler Smith; and Lyric, Indigo, and Forest Ward.

Robert is also survived by his brother, Jerry (Ann) Bishop and was preceded in death by his brothers Billy, John, Larry, and his sister Betty Howard. He leaves behind a host of loving nieces and nephews who will carry forward his spirit.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cullman Senior Center at 1539 Sportsman Lake Road NW, Cullman, AL 35055 in his memory. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
