CULLMAN, Ala. – The upcoming Cruise In & Car Show benefiting the Blakney family will be held on Sept. 21, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Baileyton Drag Strip. This event is organized to raise funds for Zak Blakney, assistant baseball coach at Fairview High School, and his family, who recently lost their home and belongings in a devastating house fire. The entry fee for cars in the show is $30, and food trucks will be on-site to serve attendees.
On Sept. 7, Blakney and his family lost nearly everything to fire, smoke and water damage. A GoFundMe page has been created to assist the family with immediate needs such as clothing, shoes, basic necessities and toys for their children.
“Zak and Brooke are hard workers in our community and love their family so much. They spend their days taking care of others and taking care of their little family. Let’s rally around them and help them rebuild their lives,” reads a statement from the GoFundMe page.
