HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Wallace State Community College’s Department of Nursing Education is currently accepting applications for students wishing to enter in the Spring 2025 semester. The deadline to apply for entry is Oct. 1. An informational meeting for prospective students will be held on Monday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. in Room 220 of the School of Nursing and Center for Science.

The Nursing program accepts students each fall and spring, with opportunities in the spring for the traditional nursing program and joint enrollment programs with either the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) or Athens State University.

The traditional option is a five-semester program offering a certificate in practical nursing after the first three semesters and an associate degree in nursing at the completion of all five semesters.

The joint enrollment options allow students to complete courses at the Hanceville campus and online courses at either the UAB or Athens State. Four semesters of pre-requisite courses are required before applying to either program. At the completion of five semesters of nursing courses, students will have earned both an associate degree from Wallace State and a bachelor’s degree from their chosen institution.

Wallace State’s Department of Nursing Education has twice been recognized as a Center of Excellence by the National League for Nursing and surpasses national averages in pass rates for the licensure exams for both practical nursing and registered nursing.
