Mary Ellen Freeman -Jones, age 93 of Cullman

Funeral Service for Mary Ellen Freeman -Jones, age 93 of Cullman, will be at noon on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with Kerry Cleghorn and Rev. Delbert Freeman officiating. Burial will be at Logan Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home. 

Mrs. Jones passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024. She was born Saturday, August 9, 1930, to D.P. McAfee and Willie Belle Jobe. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and father of her children, Millard J Freeman; husband, J. Paul Jones. 

Survivors include her son, Delbert (Sabre) Freeman; daughter, Betty (Rodney) Kinney; grandchildren, Shannon (Robert) Malone, Shawn (Kim) Striker, Caleb (Amanda) Freeman, Joshua Freeman, Jonathan (Summer) Freeman, 19 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Freeman is a Cullman High School Alumni Class of 1948 and grew up, lived and taught school until 1985 in the Logan Community. She enjoyed many years in the ministry at 7th Street Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School for 26 years. She also enjoyed staying fit at the Donald Green Center with friends. She was a resident at Westminster Assisted living for seven  years and also Woodland Village Nursing Home for several months.  

Mrs. Freeman Attended college at University of Alabama, UAB, St. Bernard and graduated with a Master’s in English Education. Mrs. Jones was employed by Cullman County Schools 1st – 9th grade mostly Jr. High and was employed for 30 plus years, also she was a cheerleading sponsor. Mrs. Jones then moved to Wallace State Community College to teach English. Her hobbies included, gardening, cooking and staying fit. Mrs. Jones will truly be missed and was loved by so many family and friends.  

The family would like to thank her church family at 7th Street Baptist Church. The dedicated and loving staff of both Westminster assisted Living and Woodland Village. Family would also like to express a heartfelt appreciation for the care provided by the staff of Hospice of Cullman County.
