CULLMAN, Ala. – Three juvenile escapees from Jefferson County are in custody following a pursuit in Cullman County.

At approximately 4 p.m. today, Thursday, May 9, Cullman County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the Gold Ridge area. The driver of the vehicle allegedly refused to stop and a short pursuit followed. The vehicle stopped and the occupants allegedly abandoned the vehicle at the intersection of County Road 1422 and County Road 1476.

Deputies determined the three occupants were juveniles reported as escapees from a juvenile facility in Birmingham. These juveniles are wanted in connection with multiple crimes across multiple states, and were considered to be armed and dangerous.

CCSO tracking K9s were deployed. The Cullman Police Department and Alabama State Troopers assisted the CCSO with air support in order to locate the juveniles.

All three juveniles were located and are in custody, according to the CCSO. Because they are juveniles, no further information or pictures are being released at this time.

“I would like to commend our deputies for being diligent throughout this ordeal. I would like to thank our K9 trackers for an outstanding job. I would also like to thank the support of all the other agencies that stepped in to help locate these individuals. This was a tremendous team effort and a great success in getting these subjects back behind bars,” said Sheriff Matt Gentry.
