Obituary: Edith Scott Davis

Edith Scott Davis, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024 at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab surrounded by family. She was the 5th child of Joseph Fornie and Ethel Scott. Edith was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a devoted nurse, working in hospitals, nursing homes, home health and drug rehab. 

Edith is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Randy) Trammell; son, Jonathan (Kendra) Taylor; grandchildren, Miranda (Roger) Shiflett, Crystal Speakman (Aaron); Taylor (Hannah) Trammell, Linley (Victor) Hanson, Zachary (Shelby) Taylor, Willow Taylor and Jaxon Taylor; 15 great-grandchildren and a brother, Van H. Scott.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Dorothy Pyles, Nella Dean Moore, R. Douglas Scott; son, Rodney Taylor and grandson, Jason Taylor.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 1, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Gardendale Heritage Funeral Home; Bro. Jacob Elliott and Dr. Sammie Reid officiating; burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Corner.

 The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Pallbearers are Taylor Trammell, Zachary Taylor, Roger Shiflett, Victor Hanson IV, Jay Alvis and Tim McGuirk. Honorary pallbearers are Jaxon Taylor, Walker Shiflett and Kenny Cleveland.

The family wants to give a special thanks to the Nurses and CNA’s at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab Memory Care Unit and the staff of SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice for their care of their mother.
