WSCC: Broadway Night set for Feb. 15

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Students in Wallace State Community College’s Fine and Performing Arts programs are gearing up for the annual Broadway Night, scheduled on Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts.

The upcoming showcase, staged and choreographed by Wallace State Fine and Performing Arts students, will present guests with an evening of popular Broadway show tunes. Included in this year’s Broadway Night setlist is student-selected music from “Into the Woods,” “Hamilton,” “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” “White Christmas,” “Footloose” and “Anything Goes.” Admission to the performance is a $10 donation.

“Students from all programs come together to plan and perform at Broadway Night, showcasing their creativity through staging, choreography, and presentation,” said Tiffany Richter, director of the Wallace State vocal ensembles. “They do an amazing job, and it is always a blast to see how students work with one another to interpret the songs they’ve selected.”

Other upcoming performances from Wallace State Fine and Performing Arts programs include: 

  • “The Lightning Thief,” a musical presented by the Wallace State Theatre program, March 8-9, at 7 p.m. and March 10, at 2 p.m. at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre
  • Spring Dance Showcase presented by the Allegro Dance, March 21, at 7 p.m. at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre  
  • “That Seventies Show,” presented by the Wallace State Singers, April 11-13, at 7 p.m. at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre  
  • Big Band Dance by the Wallace State Jazz Band, April 19, at 7 p.m. at the Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts  
  • Spring Under the Stars by the Wallace State Fine and Performing Arts programs, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts  

The Fine and Performing Arts programs will hold scholarship auditions Feb. 9 and March 1 from 8 a.m.-noon in the Burrow Center for the Fine Performing Arts. Auditions are open to current and incoming students and will be awarded starting with the Fall 2024 semester.
