Obituary: Rodney Lewis Hooper

Rodney Lewis Hooper, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on Jan. 15, 2024, at the age of 64. Rodney was born in Blount County, Alabama, on April 20, 1959, to Lewis Cleamon and Betty Sue Craft Hooper.

Rodney was a member of Fairview First Baptist Church and he provided for his family as an outside salesman for Vision Wheel. He was an avid hunter and was the current president of the Bronco Hunting Club, as well as a member of the National Wildlife Turkey Federation.

While he enjoyed hunting in general, turkey hunting was by far Rodney’s favorite. Rodney and his wife Rhonda also enjoyed searching out and collecting allocated bourbon together. Any time spent with his family brought joy to Rodney.

He adored his wife and was immensely proud of the young adults his children have become. Rodney was loved by many people and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity. He will be missed greatly.

Rodney is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Gene Miller; and several uncles and aunts.

Those surviving Rodney include his wife, Rhonda Estes Hooper; son, Clay Hooper; daughter, Tera Hooper; brother, William Richard Hooper (Joyce); sister, Linda Miller; uncle, Gerald Hooper (Kathy); nieces and nephews, Jessica Campbell, Jake Hooper (Brandi), Shane Miller, Mike Miller (Meghann); several great-nieces and great-nephews; a host of cousins; and many friends.

Funeral services for Rodney will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. David Chambers and Bro. Layne Howard officiating. Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation two hours prior to services, from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Brooklyn Cemetery where the Bronco Hunting Club will serve as honorary pallbearers alongside the pallbearers.
