Obituary: Eugene Crider

Eugene Crider, 97, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on January 9, 2024, in Montgomery, Alabama. He was born on Sep. 14, 1926, in Cullman, Alabama. Eugene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Eugene is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Sue Crider, his sons Mike Crider (Cathy) and Wayne Crider (Pam), his daughter Suzy Spivey, his grandchildren Jeremy and Ann Tyler Crider, and his great-grandchild Cate Crider. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Effie Crider, and his brothers Grover, Leon, and William Crider.

Eugene’s formative years were spent in Cullman, Alabama. He completed his education at West Point High School before pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Agriculture Education from Auburn University. Eugene’s commitment to service was evident through his service in the US Army, where he proudly served for 18 months from 1945 to 1946.

A family and friends visitation for Eugene will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Leak Memory Chapel, located at 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, located at 909 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109.

Eugene will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
