CULLMAN, Ala. – Zip between the boughs of hearty forestry, weightless and at the speed of flight, experiencing the moonlit sky under a Hunter’s Moon for two hours as only birds can. Clear the calendar, cancel the plans and join Smith Lake Zip Line Adventures on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. for a Moonlight Zip Line Tour for one night only, sure to excite and exhilarate even the most active adventure aficionado.

Smith Lake Adventures says this is a first-time event, “This is our first year ever doing a moonlight tour here at Smith Lake Zipline Adventure!” Tickets are $69 per individual and can be pre-purchased (as reservations are required) online at www.smithlakezipline.com; ticket prices include all safety gear, a 30-minute safety demonstration, a guide to assist in navigating skywalks, multiple zip lines and a gnarly adrenaline rush.

The Moonlight Zip Line tour will be a level 3 tour, one of the most elaborate and intensive tours, with age and weight restrictions; guests must be 10 years or older and patrons cannot weigh less than 115 pounds or more than 265 pounds. Closed-toed shoes are required, along with the ability to climb stairs, maintain balance and have complete control of your extremities. Ladder-type stairs will also be utilized. This tour should be considered as a heavy physical workout.

The tour will last approximately two hours, so don’t forget a water bottle to avoid thirst and bug spray to avoid mosquitos. However, gumption is possibly the best supply to have on this nighttime aerial adventure. Of the impending darkness and creepy creatures that may be seen on the tour, organizers said, “There will be very little light; we will have lanterns on each of the platforms as well as on the bridges. We see anything from deer, squirrels, chipmunks, to snakes and wild turkeys.”

Flying through the eerily dark sky through the canopy of lush trees on Alabama’s longest zip line, a staggering 3,000 feet long, serenaded by sounds of unseen critters and the dense forest’s silhouette in the moon rays is not for the faint of heart. Do you believe you have what it takes?

Smith Lake Zip Line Adventures is located at 1177 County Road 385 and can be reached by phone at 256-841-7627. The Moonlight Zip Line Tours will be at 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. Find out more at www.facebook.com/SmithLakeZipLine.
