ARLEY, Ala. – Meek returned home to Tiger Stadium Friday night after opening up the season with a road win over Maplesville but unfortunately for Tiger fans, they didn’t have the same success against Hackleburg.

Meek took a lead late in the first quarter when Mason Powe scooped up a fumble and took it the other way for a touchdown. Cam Deaver punched in the two-point conversion and the Tigers were up 8-0 going into the second. However, the Panthers responded with a 3-yard touchdown later in the second that cut the lead to 8-6 going into the locker room at halftime.

A 30-yard touchdown pass put Hackleburg in front 12-8 late in the third quarter and the Panthers added another score on a 12-yard run early in the fourth to make it an 18-8 game. Hackleburg scored one more time before the final whistle blew and the Tigers dropped their first game of the season to the Panthers 24-8.

Meek will look to bounce back from the loss and get back in the win column against Waterloo next week.
