Obituary: Sharla Wilson

Sharla Wilson, 55, of Cullman, AL. left us for her heavenly home on Aug. 7, 2023 with her family by her side at Brookwood Medical Center in Homewood, AL.

Celebration of Life service will be Sunday, Aug.13, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Center Point Baptist Church in Holly Pond, AL, Jeff Folds and Jay Naylor officiating.

She was born on Sep. 16, 1967 in Birmingham, AL to Phillip and Sarah Naylor. She spent her childhood in Gardendale, Cullman, and Tarrant, where she graduated from Tarrant High School in 1985. Soon after, she married and had two beautiful sons.

Sharla had a generous, giving spirit. She was a creative person and enjoyed painting, crafting, writing, and cooking for others. She also had a compassionate personality and often worked as a caregiver over the years. Sharla loved her children and grandchildren dearly, and took great pride in watching them grow up.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Marvin Camp, Forney and Jennie Naylor; her step-father, Jerry Kanaday; step-grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her husband, Sammie Wilson; her sons Nathan (Holly) and Nick Brown; grandchildren, Maryjane Pannell, Kendra Pannell-Speegle, and Michael Brown; father, Phillip Naylor; mother, Sarah Camp Burks (Richard); grandmother, Eunice Camp; brothers, Allan (Christy) and Chris (Cassandra) Naylor, and Dewayne Kanaday; her sister, Angel (Eric); step-parents, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, many family members by marriage, and a host of friends.
